Santa's new beard aka got my hair cut

Firstly, I think it's worth mentioning that I waited 3 months to get my hair cut, because I wanted to go to the same hairdresser I always have and as she is very popular I had to wait forever.
Finally sat in the chair I showed how short I want them and I heard woooow, well, I should probably say that they were down my waistline already so I wanted her to cut off like 30+ cm
She cut them off in three parts and tied them together, then came up with an idea to donate them to a Santa nearby who is in need of a new beard and apparently my hair were perfect for that. Feels rather weird having such short hair, but no more blowdrying.
Now I'm just waiting for lots of presents for Christmas ;)

Worky work work

My work is now officially my life... and no, we don't have fancy photoshoots like Emma's work do :( Where have I gone wrong in life?????

I am getting more responsibility now though since the trainee assistant manager is gone, I believe my last words to her were that you should go! :D She might have misunderstood the meaning behind it, I was just merely expressing the need to get away from this town that traps people (omg is it happening to me????!!!), she on the other hand saw it as me wanting to take her place.. which is kind of true actually...

Anyway I was freaking out about my first morning shift on my own (because it's such a big deal), asked all the possible questions what if the alarm doesn't go off, the computer won't start and making lists about things that I mustn't forget to do. And you know what went wrong??????? The cashier didn't show up... ummm... thanks, and no one answered their phones either to tell me what to dooooooo :D Actually we didn't even have his number written down so I couldn't call him and ask if he's ill or just slept in or whatever...

I must say the best day at work so far has been the day when all the tills were down :) so we got to just chill for a couple of hours :) The downside of it was that coincidentally the delivery that day was late as well, otherwise we could've put that out in peace :)

We have a couple of new people starting and one of them calls me Jan (english pronounciation). like wtf? Where did you get that from???? You're freaking Polish as well so you of all people should not call me that!!! It just makes me so mad, and I am starting to quietly hate her... Literally everyone else can say my full name but to her it's "oh so long" dafuq????? where on earth do you get that Jan from though? I'll start calling her Peggy then, why? well why not... it's easy :D (yes I have told her please don't call me Jan :D ).

What am I going to do when Tay-Tay leaves :'( ???

Top model

Had my first ever photo shoot last week. Needed a photo for my job so made an appointment to get one taken. Had to cancel once, felt relieved at first, but then realized I need to get another one. Then it was the case of, omg, need to get fit and crossed my fingers to have some kind of normal skin for that time. Choosing the outfit was a nightmare, nothing fits together or looks professional enough -.- eventually managed to put something together. So on the day went there, the studio was very nice and cosy. Had make up done, a pretty thick one, but it's what u need to look perfect I guess. Did my hair in the morning, as I thought I wanna have something different from everyone else and that my superduper long hair would seem to go on forever on the photo. And now the taking photos part...well, if one thinks they are gonna look like Heidi Klum and be toppest of all the top models and pose for every shot then hahaa. Since I don't like taking pictures (Jazz can tell all kinds of funny stories how I escape from them) I was standing there, doing what the photographer said, mainly feeling awkward for having an absolutely empty head and no ideas what poses to take. At least I tried to think about nice things to have a natural smile and not to look fake. Oh yeah, I have sensitive eyes, meaning they are extra sensitive for the flash and closed on many of the shots. So in the end, after all this effort, out of 200 shots I will have 15-20. All the work to get 20 photos. Now I'm just waiting for them to arrive and fingers crossed they look nice!

PS! Got back to work and noticed a teeny tiny black speck on my lip – great if I had it there all the time, well done Ems, well done!

Devil's Bridge

On one sunny afternoon we thought we'd go somewhere, otherwise my life here would be even more depressing: work-sleep-work-sleep :D

Oh wait, no, one day we went for Sunday roast in a pub outside Aber, mmm delicious, and yes, I've only discovered Sunday roasts after having been here for three years... So after that we went to the nearby powerplant and the lake, took some photos and decided that it's too nice and early to just go home. I know! we can go to the Devils Bridge!!!

The Devils Bridge is just a little bridge under! the current bridge that is open to traffic. The story of it is that an old woman was herding her cow when the cow decided to cross the river but couldn't come back. Then a man? appeared and said that he'll build a bridge so that the cow and woman could reunite, but that he'd keep the soul of the first living thing to cross the bridge. The old woman agreed and returned the next morning when the bridge was built. She then threw a piece of bread on the other side and out of nowhere her trusted dog ran after it. The woman had conned the devil and gotten her cow back. Am I the only one thinking of the poor dog though :(

So you have to pay a pound to get on the little 10 minute trail down to the stream, which I think is stunning and definitely worth going to, when you're already in the neighbourhood. There is another 45-minute trail on the other side of the bridge for another pound but it was a bit too cold (meaning I wasn't dressed properly) for us to go there that time. There should be more waterfalls to see there... I kind of find it funny that you have to pay to get to the nature trail though.. Ok it is not much and probably goes to the right place - to maintain it but still... Shouldn't nature be free?

PPS! for some reason I can't seem to locate the photos we took :S so I'll hopefully add them later (yeah-yeah I said that about all my Paris posts last year didn't I, but added no pics :D oops)

Awww yeah I do keep my promises sometimes;)

The steam train that takes you from Aber to Devil's  Bridge and apparently is quite expensive

This is a hotel. A nice hotel :)
If you look to the left of the photo there is a road coming towards the hotel and parallel to that is the road that this photo is taken, both of merging into one going past the hotel from the right... Did I mention there is two-way traffic, so if you are coming from the left you end up blindly taking the turn and hoping for survival :)

Finally the bridge. Can you guess which one it is?
I believe the bottom one is the original... I think... :D

Lastly a nice view of Aberystwyth, mind the sheeps :)

Time for some music

It's my turn to do the playlist, well, i should have done it yesterday... Have lots of songs, but no idea how to choose the ones to add here :/

This was my favourite for quite some time.

Then I was listening to that when I was planning to return home, had big plans to go out and party once I'm back, yeah, never happened :D

Back in the UK it was kinda cool that since I didn't have anything to do after work and was spending lots of time home alone I was watching all the music channels - so got to know all the new stuff and also learned all the charts. Anyhow, this was the song I put on when going to work in the mornings.

This is just chill, comes in radio every day I drive home, less now as it's getting older and new music is coming out.

'Laula mu laulu' where singers sing songs from others repertory (with their own twist) has had many great songs, was difficult to choose between this and Maarja-Liis Ilus "Lumevärv", but I used to listen to 2 Quick Start when I was young, so I linked this one. Really hoping 2QS would have some summer concerts, would be cool to go and see them again :)

Lowest low

The past couple of months have been rough... Mainly because I'm just not happy with myself and what I'm doing, which pretty much is sleeping most of the day while the rest of the time I'm worrying about all the assignments and essays and exams etc etc. Note worrying in my head and not actually doing them til the last minute. And that creates stress, a lot of stress, that I am to be blamed for myself. Yes the workload is bigger this year but it isn't impossible to do.

I really felt it getting to me after I'd handed my diss in (4 minutes to spare til the deadline - gosh formatting took hours man). I knew I could've done so much better. I had all these ideas and thoughts in my head that I'll write about but when I finally got down to writing about them, they just seemed pointless or not worth anything to my dissertation + I had some last minute errors popping up meaning that I had more cause to panic and stress... But I did it. It was handed in on time and the next week or so Mr.Special had to endure my constant bad mood and whining and crying (true story) of how I'm even ashamed of giving that diss in coz it was just that bad... The fact that my supervisor had given me really good marks for the meetings did not help at all... I just felt that I've let myself and him down...

Things just spiralled from there really, I was in too bad of a mood to really go to my lectures unless I had to (tests in French yay). I have/had mixed emotions about all of this coming to a rapid end. On one hand yay it'll be finally over and I can relax again but on the other hand: the hell am I supposed to do now??? I haven't applied to any proper jobs and leaving Aber to get the same job somewhere else seems pointless too... So I'll stay?!?!? But in the deepest part of my heart I do not want to stay, although I do like my job and the people there + they are hinting at a chance to get more responsibility :D But in reality it'll still be the same job I'll just spend more freaking time there...

Can I just go back to Corsica or Paris and do nothing without feeling bad about it???????

Yeah... Cool story

The curious tale of a loo roll

So one day Mr. Special went yet again out and about for his errands. He must've been gone for about 20 minutes when he stormed back in the flat holding a single loo roll in his hand accompanied with a puzzled face: "Did you put this loo roll outside our door????"

Obviously I hadn't, since I'm not a crazy person, although one could argue that jumping out of dark corners to scare the bejesus out of him is not something a sane person does... not as frequently as me at least... Obviously he didn't believe me because sometimes I tell tales to him and snicker when he falls for them. He then compared the pattern on the new roll against the ones we had since I already had an amused face that could mean that it was indeed me behind all of this. Needless to say the patterns did not match. I had been cleared :)

Maybe someone dropped it while they were carrying their shopping in? I did hear someone in the corridor 5-10 minutes ago? "No!!! It was deliberate, someone is trying to say that I'm shit or something!" and he was genuinely worried that this was an act of vandalism against him.. So he actually went to confront the probable culprit - the guy upstairs who has been known to occasionally empty a fire extinguisher on someone else's door (when it was not on fire), or pretend to have been unconscious while his friend frantically taps on his neighbours' doors for help...

Turns out that he had been sick all day and sending a malicious message through a loo roll had been way too much for him that day... Mr. Special still cast some suspicious looks out the window in hopes of catching someone trying to run away with loo rolls or something to explain this but in the end he had no other choice than to accept my initial theory that someone was carrying a load of stuff in, including a couple of loose loo rolls and dropped one without noticing...

PS! it was a better loo roll that we have in the house :D
PPS! He actually shook the sick man's hand and passed his disease onto me!!!!!!!
