Devil's Bridge

On one sunny afternoon we thought we'd go somewhere, otherwise my life here would be even more depressing: work-sleep-work-sleep :D

Oh wait, no, one day we went for Sunday roast in a pub outside Aber, mmm delicious, and yes, I've only discovered Sunday roasts after having been here for three years... So after that we went to the nearby powerplant and the lake, took some photos and decided that it's too nice and early to just go home. I know! we can go to the Devils Bridge!!!

The Devils Bridge is just a little bridge under! the current bridge that is open to traffic. The story of it is that an old woman was herding her cow when the cow decided to cross the river but couldn't come back. Then a man? appeared and said that he'll build a bridge so that the cow and woman could reunite, but that he'd keep the soul of the first living thing to cross the bridge. The old woman agreed and returned the next morning when the bridge was built. She then threw a piece of bread on the other side and out of nowhere her trusted dog ran after it. The woman had conned the devil and gotten her cow back. Am I the only one thinking of the poor dog though :(

So you have to pay a pound to get on the little 10 minute trail down to the stream, which I think is stunning and definitely worth going to, when you're already in the neighbourhood. There is another 45-minute trail on the other side of the bridge for another pound but it was a bit too cold (meaning I wasn't dressed properly) for us to go there that time. There should be more waterfalls to see there... I kind of find it funny that you have to pay to get to the nature trail though.. Ok it is not much and probably goes to the right place - to maintain it but still... Shouldn't nature be free?

PPS! for some reason I can't seem to locate the photos we took :S so I'll hopefully add them later (yeah-yeah I said that about all my Paris posts last year didn't I, but added no pics :D oops)

Awww yeah I do keep my promises sometimes;)

The steam train that takes you from Aber to Devil's  Bridge and apparently is quite expensive

This is a hotel. A nice hotel :)
If you look to the left of the photo there is a road coming towards the hotel and parallel to that is the road that this photo is taken, both of merging into one going past the hotel from the right... Did I mention there is two-way traffic, so if you are coming from the left you end up blindly taking the turn and hoping for survival :)

Finally the bridge. Can you guess which one it is?
I believe the bottom one is the original... I think... :D

Lastly a nice view of Aberystwyth, mind the sheeps :)

Ttyl ;)
Jazzz...
