Bath Christmas markets

During one of the long weekends in November, we decided to go to Bath and check out the spectacular Christmas market!

We based ourselves in Crickhowell and took the train (plural actually as we happened to go there on a day with lots of rail replacements etc. I was not happy) to Bath to avoid parking issues and traffic. Might've been easier in the end :D

But for a little bonus we saw SANTA in Crickhowell! They had a parade where dragons were pulling the fire engine where Santa was sitting in. What a nice surprise! Crickhowell itself is a picturesque little town in South Wales. It has a range of lovely shops (what else do you do in towns???). And a couple of FANCY looking hotels/restaurants. Perfect for a day trip, wandering the little streets, glancing at the river.

Then onto the main event, the bustling city of Bath, which is very easy to navigate from the train station. Everything was decorated for Christmas. Very magical :) And huge! Spanning everywhere you look! And when you finally think, at the end of the day, that this must be it! Surely! But again, you end up wandering down another street and uncover more and more and more and more market stalls.

And did a visit to Bath really happen if you didn't visit THE baths? The Roman baths that are the remains of one of the greatest religious spas in the ancient world! There is still natural hot water flow in them from the thermal springs underneath the city.

Back into the market surrounding the baths in Bath. There are 160 market stalls: a good variety of gifts and food and drinks hot and cold. It lasts for 18 days, finishes too early in my opinion though, 9th of December.

Well worth a visit!
