Reading week

First time I've actually done some reading in reading week :D Though not as much as I hoped :D
Before reading week started I wrote out all my deadlines for this semester: 9 different things to present or write etc. and thought that I'd spend one day on each of them... well since the literature review for my dissertation was the first deadline I actually spent the entire reading week on it... Did nothing on Monday, then read two hours of articles on Tuesday, Wednesday (I just can't anymore after two hours I get restless and need to do something else) somehow I've managed to copy 30 pages of interesting info from those articles and so Thursday I wrote up my lit review (I'm still not a 100% sure on what I am doing it on - but my supervisor said it's okidoki, no need to worry or stress about it too much just yet (we get marked every meeting though on our progress which then makes up 10% of the final dissertation mark)).

Then on Friday I realised (I realised it on Monday already tbh) that I hadn't done anything else yet... So for the next weeks it's gonna get tough and I can't wait it to be over yet... :D So next on the list are three french presentations, a 2000 word essay in French, not to mention the usual (translation work and writing exercise), 2 article presentations, 1 article comment (just like in real journals whippyyy) and last but not least: the methodology chapter for my dissertation.

Did I mention there's less than a month left????

PS! I still have plenty of time to lull around doing nothing, playing candy crush and farm heroes all day ;) obvs

Cat lover

I am a cat person, no doubt about it (like my kitty calendar said one day - all cats are beautiful, even the ugly ones). We've always had cats, either in the house or moving into the garage because my nan started feeding it there and she decided to stay and now (6 years later?) she even comes and tries to sit on my lap when I'm outside. At one point we had about 10 cats in the country house :D :D At the moment we have a black cat and since we let her out to roam as she wishes she often crosses the street (see where I'm going?) and once I saw a car come to a full stop and reverse back they way it had come just because my awesome Lily wanted to go and say hello to the neighbours :D The first summer she was let out she only came in the room to eat and when outside no one could even go near her, she started hissing immediately! When the winter came and it became cold she had to come back inside :D HA! and ever since became a normal cat whom you can pet and who likes to curl up in your lap :) Now she's so happy to see me (twice a year) that the first day she realises I'm home she follows me around or I have to carry her around and she's perfectly happy on my arms (like a baby) when I'm moving around and doing my stuff :) true love :)

i actually came here to talk about the pets we got now :) Fishies!!!!!!!! Tbh I wasn't too impressed... stupid fish, what use are they????????? And who knew it's such a hassle to get a couple. We bought a 30 litre tank and you can only get one gold fish in it! Wot the point?!?!?!?!?! So instead we got some other little orange fishies (6 of them now). First you have to let the water be in the tank for three days then you can get two fish and after a week another two and so on... Such hassle!!!!!!!!!! Then two fishies died :( Mr. Special overfed!!!! now it's my job :P none have died after that. Then one of our fishies was supposed to be pregnant - oooh exciting times - but like 5 weeks later there are still no babies... so the stupid shop either lied to us or something happened (like other fish ate the babies!!! Freaking cannibals). And omg they poop so much!!!!! Jesus!!! Literally every time I look what they're doing (quite relaxing actually) at least one of them has poop stuck to its bottom -.- The pregnant one did nothing but poop for the first couple of days...

Then for one weekend we got to babysit a dog... dogsit??? One of Mr. Special's friend's dog.... a big dog that hasn't got basically any training whatsoever. So he was jumping on us all the time and running around and was so excited... argh, luckily I was working every night :D :D :D :D I regretted taking him from the first 5 seconds but when he was gone I kind of miss him now :D Oh and the cage!!!!! Isn't that cruel keeping dogs in cages when you don't want to play with them or want them out of the way or whatever?????? freaking train dogs so they wouldn't misbehave instead of locking them up!

I wish I was allowed to take a cat!

Open Day

Ever since I came here and learned that the uni recruits student ambassadors either to help freshers settle in or attract newbie students to join us next year, I've wanted to be a part of that. So every year I've looked at the application form - even downloaded it - but never got around to actually filling it in... Same this year. Until an e-mail came through asking specifically for students who had been away for a year - either doing a year in employment scheme or Erasmus etc. It was my time to shine!!!!!!!

So a couple of weeks ago I put the yellow ambassador's shirt on and started answering questions that the potential students and their parents had. Unfortunately for me, after my year in France I kind of lose my ability to speak English in stressful situations... So I was cussing at myself for struggling to find words and form easy sentences and fighting the urge to tell the parents that I promise I can actually speak English, just today I'm a bit weird ok??? Please don't judge me :D The questions they asked wasn't very easy either tbh: for example how is the teaching of marketing structured in this institution? Ummmm... welll... uh... what? (I gave a slightly better answer to them but still.... jesus I've never thought of it like that). Then luckily someone did want to know about the language year abroad :) happy days :) hopefully they were satisfied with my answers... :D

It was a good experience and I'd definitely do it again if given the chance but I felt so much under pressure to give the "right" answers, whatever they might be, and afraid of saying something stupid :D Other good parts during the day were free sandwiches and coffee :) and I actually learned something new as well about my course and how they present it.

Halloween

I've never ever ever celebrated halloween, simply because I do not like to dress up in costumes. Mainly because I don't have any ideas for costumes. Well.. because I don't want to go and buy something that I'll only wear a couple of nights a year... If I had something cool to wear I would probably love halloween :D

This year I decided to carve a pumpkin... Mr. Special bought the first pumpkin about a week ago and finally got so fed up with my inactivity and interest in it that he carved it all by himself one day I was in lectures :D He decided to carve a haunted house It was awesome! - määäääääää I wanted to do one tooo :D So a couple of days later he went to the shop to buy another (not as big as his) pumpkin. That one stood there for a couple of days - it takes me a lot of time getting around to doing things when finally I saw an inspirational photo of someone else's carved pumpkin and I decided to do mine the same way :) (obviously it didn't come out as good as the on in the photo duh but I am so proud of myself :))

I do admit I did get a little bored while doing the stitches to the mouth :D But I got it done and so I took hundreds of photos, then realized I have fake spider rings, put them on the pumpkins, took another hundred photos, then realized we bought an awesome branch light (or whatever it's called), put the pumpkins in front of it and took another hundred photos ;)

I think this is the best one :
