Shake shake shake, shake your hands

Thanks Jazz, for all the support and believing in me!
And to you, who haven't seen her, she is as excited as I'm her child going to school on my first day.
Anyway, the first day was seriously madness, soooooo many new things to keep in mind, all the lottery stuff, different cigarettes and the till system etc, but I'll get there, time and practice and I'll be better. Oh, and Jazz till trained me :D And she was there if I needed anything, so my second day I was like, don't leave me here alone. But others were great, probably pissed off the yesterday's supervisor with my 'help needed' bell ringing, but hey, at least I'll learn from my mistakes. The only terrible mistake was that someone's paypoint top up didn't go through, so if the person sees that, I don't know what happens, hopefully I'll survive :/
But yeah, hands were shaking, even on the second day I felt that I'm more nervous than on my first, but it was quite quiet night, so that helped a lot to take things easy and not to be so nervous and at the end of the day my hands didn't shake any more. And I could work on the shop floor, yaay.
So I think this is it :)

Oh, remembered sth else, someone said that I'm just like Jazz :D I was like, well, we have been living together more than a month, so it seems she is bad influence on me :D

Lottery madness

Since Emma apparently does not have anything to say about her first day at work, I thought I would, and she pointed out that I haven't contributed to this blog as much as she has, which is kinda true :P So today is her second day and first shift without me. Don't worry she'll be fine :D If survived the first training days and screwing things up at the till so will she. I believe in her! Anyway the biggest question Ems had at the end of day 1 was: "Why do they (the customers) play so much lottery???? Why???" To our readers who are not familiar with the british lottery system, I'll explain: National Lottery on wed and sat, pound each, Thunderball on wed, fri and sat, pound each, Euromillions on tues and fri, 2 pounds each + lotto hotpicks which are the hardest because you never understand if the customer wants one line with three numbers or three lines etc. So whenever I have to do it I print something out and hope to god it is right :D, then you have +5 on the normal Lottery - they're all on one machine, and when someone comes to you saying: one lucky dip tonight, 2 three number hotpicks, 5 for Friday, then you're like wtf does he want??? especially on the first day, now, after 6 months of working there, I have finally mastered the lottery machine, yay! But wait there's more! There's also the Health Lottery, which comes through a totally different machine and takes ages and since it is not played that often, you tend to forget how to do it properly. Do we have that much lottery options back home?
Then on the machine that Health Lottery is on, called Paypoint, we can also issue mobile phone top-up vouchers, pay bills (here some people have electric keys, yeah I dont know how to explain it better, but its some kind of a token that we put in the machine, and add money to it and apparently the customer goes then home and puts it in his electric meter or whatever :D), so now that I'm finally living on my own, and actually get bills sent home by post, I just go to work and pay them there, no need for the internet bank, seems weird to me to be honest. But hey that's how things are here ;)
So I'll try to get Emma to write her comments on the first two days of how her hands were shaking, how she could not get things to scan and who she did and didn't ID.
Stay tuned!

Tomorrow is da BIG day

I have my black trousers and new shoes and my little bit too big uniform blouse :) So everything should be ready for me to be in the business :D
Had my induction today, which went...basically the system went crazy and the mouse didn't work, but other than that, it's done, yaay.
And tomorrow morning we are going to work together with Jazz, as she said, she feels like it's her child's first day at work.

So wish me luck :)

ROFL

Just laughing while Jazz is trying to get her nails done. Seriously, you couldn't possibly swear so much when you paint your nails because the nail polish is thick and she can't do it properly etc.
At least I'm having fun :D

Getting a job, part 2

I was sitting in our living room on Tuesday morning when Jazz came speaking with someone on the phone and pointing to me. I was like, what have I done now??? But, it was her boss, who called to tell, that I could have a job. Went to the store, all the details and stuff, but I have a job now, how great is that. Will have my induction on Monday and then training starts on Tuesday and if I'm unlucky I will be working with Jazz on Saturdays, no, I'm kidding, would be fun to work together.

So I will keep you guys up to date with my experience of becoming a sales assistant.

Ems

Why u here not there?

That awkward moment when I'm home alone and Jazz's flatmate retuns. I was freaked out, but luckily she was very friendly and didn't have a problem with me staying here. And she left on the next day, without even seeing Jazz because as you know, one of us has to work :D

But oh boy, you should have seen the look on Jazz's face when I went to see her at work to tell her that her flatmate returned. She was like wtf, she was supposed to be in London and then asked if her room was clean and empty :D So I wasn't the only one who panicked.

Work hard!

Hiya, maybe you've already noticed that Emma posts most of the stuff on here, maybe you haven't or maybe you don't care, but still I'm going to tell why is that. Because I have a job that is so needy that even if its my one day off in a week, and they know that I'm not in town, they still call me to see if I could somehow come in. NO! please just please I want a full day to myself where I don't even have to think about that little convenience store. Don't get me wrong I like working there (I recently got promoted to a supervisor, yay), but a girl just needs her space from time to time ok?
Some funny/weird moments that I can remember:
One night there was a cycle race around town and the commentator happened to be just outside our shop, it was horrible, because in every 5 seconds he shouted "Work Hard", "They're working hard", "Work hard, work hard, work hard", don't you have anything else to say? It lasted for 3 hours and everyone working at the shop at the moment were legit pissed off and stressed, even the customers felt sorry for us :D
The weird moment when a customer calls me sweetheart, luv, babe?! (seriously wtf?), you can stop, you do not have to address me at all, just say please or thank you.
When I don't understand what a customer wants or don't recognise the brand/product immediately, then tell them we don't have and pray that we actually haven't got it as well
When my boss texts me 9AM in the morning to call him at the shop, and I misunderstood and texted him back that I'm not going to work today, I was sleeping okay! and then he rings me back, says stuff (like offers Emma a job! What? yes spoiler alert, Emma and I are now colleagues as well, if she doesn't do an epic fail) and says bye! I replied Bye Tsau! (the last one meaning bye in my native language) and then put the phone down and then making that face of what the heck did I just say :D (as some of you can vividly imagine my reactions here ;) )
Thats it for now because I kinda blanked out and can't think of anymore happenings at work, but I will! Thats a promise, and then I'll post them!

Let's go to the beach so that a stranger could take a photo

Today was a lovely day, has been raining last days, so today was finally warm and sunny. Jazz had to work, but I went for a walk on the promenade. While being there saw Ruby sunbathing and joined her. We were talking and now and then I just looked around. There was a family near us and when we started to pack to go home the lady from this family approached us and told that a man with a blue car on the promenade was pretending to tie his shoe laces and took pictures of us. We thanked the lady for letting us know, but seriously, it kinda freaked us out, what is he going to to with the pictures, don't want to even think about it. So next time I'll go to the very end of the beach where nobody ever sunbathes. Pretty disgusting to think that some weeks ago I was sunbathing more closer to the promenade, wonder how many pictures were taken then?

This is how we roll...

It's 3 o'clock in the morning, conversation got boring... so we decided to play cards. After playing 2 hours the same game over and over again (one game lasts about 5 minutes max) we decided to make it even more fun. And what is more fun than drinking Balileys with milk in the middle of the night. We start drinking when normal people are finishing.

PS! I have drunk quarter of the glass and I don't want it anymore :D

So yeah, this is how we roll.

Emma

U mad bro?

Ever felt so mad you punched a lamp?
Emma definitely has :D

Feelin' like a bro

You probably don't know that I live temporarly with Jazz because I haven't found a flat for myself. I'm basically looking for everything, a job, a flat and who knows what else.
So every time something breaks Jazz freaks out and asks: "What did you do???????" To tell the truth I managed to pull down the tube in the bathroom, which holds the bath curtain, but it wasn't fixed in any way between the walls, so this doesn't count really. Anyway, today Jazz saw that the oven door is weird and apparently it was broken and as I baked yesterday, the first question was: "What have you done with the door?" Letting landlord know that we broke the oven didn't seem the best idea, so we decided to try fixing the door. Much swearing and some shiiiiit, including admitting the fact that why either of us doesn't have a boyfriend, who could probably easily fix it. After using a pen and scissors we managed to get the door back. Both happy about how smart we are Jazz touched the door and it went the way it was before, so we were back in the beginning. Attempt number 2, back sitting on the floor to see what went wrong and amazingly we pushed the right thing to the right hole and everything was ok. So the door is fixed and we feel like bros. Who needs men anyway? :D

Keeps gettin' better

Like this isn't enough already that we live in a small town that is literally in the middle of nowhere. Welcome to Aberystwyth: nearest so-called city is an hour away, not mentioning metropols like Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester which are a 4hour train trip away, awful especially when you've got big luggage bags (which we foreigners usually have). It was quite cheap going home last year, but now for some reason both RyanAir and Easyjet have stopped their flights to our beloved homecountry Eesti :( WHY WHY WHY? Everytime I've flown with them the plane is full, ok maybe 2-3 seats are free. So why would they stop now? How are we going to get home for Christmas??? Yes I'm the freak who is already thinking about going home for Christmas. Is it really too much to ask for a 20pound airline ticket to home twice a year?

Originally by Emma :D but seriously edited by Jazzz :) and then grammatically corrected by Emma :D

How I had a job...for 2 days

If yesterday I was like: “Yaaaay, got a job” then today I'm like: “ Yaaaay, not going back there anymore”. Had the call to work all day yesterday half an hour before the restaurant was opened. Started with handing people our take away menus, after that didn't really do anything, as I was supposed to get used to everything.

Today started like yesterday, handing leaflets, but it was far more interesting today. Firstly had a lad, who walked pass me at least 3 times and told me that he is going to eat in the restaurant.
Then a group of lads, about half a meter before me, one of them said: “Oh wow” and I was like: “What now?” Then an older man came to talk with me and in the end said that I have a cracking smile that could melt the Sun. Probably the best compliment ever :)

Now you are asking why I'm not going back, well, because of reasons... Firstly the owner is one of a kind :D He offered me a room in his flat, like are you serious? And then the rumours about him wasn't good either, which got me thinking if I really wanna work there. Secondly the place is not quite for me, I wanna have a challenge and improve in what I'm doing, but it wouldn't happen there and some other things...

And no, you can't say that job is a job, there is a difference between jobs.

So, at the end of the day, I'm still looking for a job.

Night excitement

That awkward moment when you brush your teeth and then remember that tomorrow is “The rubbish collection day” and we haven't taken ours out and then knock on Jazz's door, who obviously forgot it, not the best memory in the whole white world as you may know by now. Oh well, took it out at 3 am in my pajamas. Btw, we kinda live on the main street :D

Jasmine speaking :)

Jazz here :) First of all I'd like to point out the thing that characterizes me the most: the ability to forget everything once the moment is gone for example, it took at least 3 attempts to actually find my own blog, that I set up! Myself! and then Emma had to remind me our log in details that again I came up with :D Anyway I'd like to say a big thank you to Emma who always remembers the stuff that I forget :)
